The NPPA was established in 1919 by concerned local residents. Over the years the organisation has advocated, battled, cajoled, and made a bloody nuisance of themselves for the sole purpose of the betterment of its community - with whomever it needed to. Our vision is "a dynamic, progressive, self-contained suburb". The organisation prides itself on values of leadership, tenacity, integrity, and no fear. Organisations that have been supported by the NPPA include the Newlands Volunteer Fire Brigade, Nga Hau e Wha o Papararangi, Newlands Community House, Newlands Toy Library, Grenada Village Residents' Association, Newlands Plunket, Newlands Tennis Club, Churton Park Residents' Association, Newlands Indoor Bowling Club, Woodridge Planters, and numerous others. All residents are automatically members of the organisation, and are more than welcome to attend any meeting of the group, or contact members of the Executive at any time. Recently the NPPA has been working with the Johnsonville Progressive Association on shared issues in and around Johnsonville.
